Mews in Dublin 4
This project arose from a request by one of our previous clients to build a mews in their back garden.
An existing shed was demolished and its profile was maximized. While this is essentially a single storey building, it extends to 200sqm, with loft bedrooms and a basement games area. It has simple pitched roof form, finished in slate and stone to the outside. It has copper clad clerestorey windows.
The walls to the lane are thick heavily insulated stone walls, finished in the granite of the garden walls. These walls have with small openings and result in closed private facades to the lane. The opposite happens within, where full height glazing open to the garden. This glazing along with the high level clerestorey windows flood the contemporary interior with natural light.
