This is a new house on a forested site outside Cong in Co. Galway. The site is sloped, has a southerly aspect and wonderful views. The challenge was to get planning permission and build a home that made the most of the site. The house is cut into and is sited parallel with the contours of the slope. Its form is low and integrated with the ground. The pitched roof section is integral to the design. It runs parallel with the slope of the site and reduces the scale.
