This project is a new house on a forested site outside the village of Cong in Co. Galway. The site is sloped, has a southerly aspect and overlooks Lough Corrib. The form of the house is generated by the contours of the ground into which it sits. The materials used are stone, timber and copper. The heavy north walls are made with a local siluvrian limestone in random rubble courses. The timber panels and windows are made and framed in iroko on the lighter south side. Glulam timbers are used, they order the spaces and relate to the rhythm of the trees outside.
