This is an extension of a large red brick period house in Kenilworth square. The house, a protected structure, is a hybrid of constructions from different periods in the nineteenth century. The brief for the extension was for a kitchen and granny flat on the ground floor and was for bathrooms and utilities on the upper levels. The challenge was to provide this accommodation without compromising the existing house. A four storey extension is proposed to the rear. On the ground floor it extends for the full width of the house. On the upper levels its sits in an existing recess.
